Cosmic fairies are response messengers, from the alterverse. These apocalyptical emanating archetypes bring a unique song and light to the Anthropocene. The divine feminine and universal goddess(s) have guided the creation of these divas to dance between the natural world and the commercial one. Through recycled and found objects, they raise awareness of environmental needs such as source reduction of waste, recycling, and resource conservation. They seek to capture the tension and harmony between our material world by using light, vibrant colors, layered textures, and recurring but familiar elemental nuances, they create a sense of connection and introspection while taking a irreverent approach to body perception by uncovering the layers of association and the liminal spaces that open pathways to transformation.
Ben Wayman is an Oregon-based artist who takes an unconventional route to expressing the environmental and false programming concerns we currently faced with. His found object assemblages are constructed from non-recyclable, and naturally occurring materials. As thought-provoking responses to today’s world, they raise questions of value perspective and our ability to make meaningful associations to mass consumerism and its environmental effects. A juxtaposition between organic and inorganic matter provides a glimpse of the natural world’s current struggle against man-made synthetics.
